North Light Block Island Milky Way Portrait 2015
While arriving at the parking lot for the North Light at Corn Neck Road I could immediately see the Milky Way as never before. It was spectacularly bright even before my eyes adjusted to the dark. I hiked the half mile out to the lighthouse and took time shooting from several different angles but this was clearly the best for the Milky Way juxtaposition. While shooting here a year prior there were seagulls everywhere but tonight I was alone with nothing but the clicking shutter and billions of stars. I lit the building with an LED television light on a stand placed about fifteen feet away and lit the foreground bushes with a handheld flashlight.
