This lighthouse sits in Long Island Sound near the US Merchant Marine Academy at King's Point. Along with my friend Sean we set off on the whaler from Greenwich, Connecticut and motored 11 miles to the lighthouse, arriving at sunset. We had a generator and electric grill onboard and cooked burgers while awaiting darkness. We also had the water tripod and were anticipating a rocky bottom in shallow water near the lighthouse but once we launched were surprised to find a sandy flat bottom. We were as far west as we could go before the water depth dropped but were in a good position to capture the Throgs Neck and Whitestone Bridges. We then left to shoot Execution Rocks before ending the night at Great Captains Island in Greenwich.
