Meet Ruthie

Ruthie is a 22’ circa 2000 Thor Chateau Sport motorhome graciously donated to the USLHS project by Elinor and Jon DeWire. David takes Ruthie for all of his long drives, and in many ways, it is considered “home” when he is on the road. Shooting at night typically means David has to stay up until 2am in order to capture complete darkness, and Ruthie is usually the comfortable bed for him to rest his head on once he’s done shooting. Coincidentally, the home came with the name “Ruthie”, but it reminds David of his late-mother, Ruth.

The USLHS is honored to have USA Stars & Lights funded for Ruthie’s Adventures by a generous grant from the Mildred H. McEvoy Foundation of Worcester, Massachusetts. The funds are being used to assist Ruthie in her travels around the country reaching distant lighthouse locations while adding to this historically important photographic collection.

If you see Ruthie on the road, honk and say hi! You’ll know it’s her because of the “I Break For Lighthouses” bumpersticker.
